We are continuing to work on ratios this week. Many students found the ratio problem solving questions challenging. This is normal and good for helping them understand the concept of ratios. However, if you find your child is having trouble or getting overly frustrated please send them to me before school, after school,or at recess and I can help them. I know that bar modeling is unfamiliar for many students and I don't want it to become a defeating process. Also, there is a rationale for introducing bar modeling before algebra, so its best to let students learn to model first because it helps develop their algebraic thinking. This week we will also begin working on using a ratio table to solve problems.
