Week of 11/7- 11/11

Announcements and Reminders:

  • Students will participate in Hoop, Holler, and Shoot on Wednesday morning.
  • All 6th grade students are expected to enter the science fair. All projects are due on the 16th.

This week students will finish up there work with percents. The Rate and Percent Test will be on Friday with a test review on Thursday.

Language Arts


Monday: introduce Lesson 11 root “mater”=mother; work on Prepositional Phrases; Finish “Wilma Unlimited” sequence chart and summary of her time at the Olympics-due by end of class today; Read “World’s Fastest” p. 126-129 Storytown and complete Venn Diagram on two animals-due Tuesday

Tuesday: complete and check “mater” definitions – due Wednesday; Read “The Great Serum Race,” Storytown p. 210-223 together in class and complete plot map together

Wednesday: human web activity with “mater” words and definitions; use graphic organizer, writing frame, and plot map to write an argumentative essay about “The Great Serum Race” – due Friday, turn in earlier if you finish earlier

Thursday: study for Lesson 11 vocabulary quiz “mater”; work on Prepositional Phrases; read “The Wright Brothers: A Flying Start” p. 84-103 in Storytown and complete sequence chart, write summary-due Friday

Friday: Lesson 11 vocabulary quiz “mater”; prepositions; complete Unit 4 study guide for open book test on Monday. Study over the weekend.

Spelling: Week #11 practice pages 44, 45, 46.  Test List #11 on Thursday.

Lessons on Egypt with Mr. Davis.

Science:    

Science Fair Projects are due on the 16th.  Science Fair boards will be handed out this week.  The experiment should be completed by Monday the 14th.
